Have both apps been installed from CachyOS's repos, or did wither of them come from Flathub? Can you attach their .desktop files in /usr/share/applications/ ? Created attachment 185669 [details] firefox.desktop Hello and thank you for taking the time to investigate, Firefox came from CachyOS repos sudo pacman -S firefox and Waterfox was installed from AUR thru yay -S waterfox-bin AUR Webpage for Waterfox: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/waterfox-bin I also want to note that I tried Librewolf install for my second browser and had the same issue. Librewolf was installed thru the CachyOS repos. sudo pacman -S librewolf Thank you for your time and please reach out if any other information is needed. Zink Zxd Sent with Proton Mail secure email. Thanks. Their Exec= and StartupWMClass= values are different, so there go my theories. I tested this on a CachyOS VM, and I can't reproduce the problem after opening both browsers and rebooting (and repeating 5 times) The icons-only taskbar shows a Waterfox icon and a Firefox icon Can you think of any customizations you may have made to either browser that might be related? Also, can you try reproducing with a new user and with the browsers in their default state? After a little searching, I found an issue on the Waterfox issue tracker, with people saying the Waterfox taskbar icon is replaced by the Firefox icon. It's been reported as happening with Linux Mint, Xubuntu. There are comments indicating it might be linked to the language used on the system being something other than US English or if the system and interface language are different. https://github.com/BrowserWorks/waterfox/issues/3743 On the system I tested on, the language was set to American English for both the system and Waterfox I switched the language in Waterfox to French and rebooted, but was still unable to reproduce the bug I switched the system language to also be French and rebooted, but still couldn't reproduce it I would just have both browsers open (One on each screen) and even while browsing the icons would both become one or the other in the task manager bar. Another note, I have not pinned Firefox and Waterfox to the task bar and I've had no issues with that. It's only when I pin the Firefox and Waterfox icons to the taskbar that I get the issue of both shortcut icons becoming Firefox or Waterfox. I would take a day or two for the issue to crop up. That was the attempted fix I tryed when asking ChatGPT where I would run the commands: sudo nano /usr/share/applications/waterfox.desktop and I would also edit: nano ~/.local/share/applications/waterfox.desktop Find and modify these lines: Name=Waterfox StartupWMClass=waterfox Icon=waterfox But I had the same issue. Can you still try reproducing this with a new user and without making any changes to Firefox or Waterfox (aside from optionally pinning them to the taskbar)? Thanks. Hello, I have not been able to reproduce the issue again for the last 2 weeks. If it crops up again I'll reach out and I want to thank you and all the other staff members that reached out to me.
