SUMMARY
When a search filter has text in it in the project bin (the "Search" text input on the top right of the project bin), the "clip in project bin" option (accessed by right clicking on any media clip in the timeline) will NOT work and display a black screen instead of the actual item.

Example:
- The search text input in the project bin contains "birthday".
  - Only clips with "birthday" in their name appear in the bin.
- In the timeline, right click and click on "clip in project bin" on a clip from a video called "garden.mov".
- garden.mov won't be highlighted and a black screen will appear.
- However, if you do the step above for a clip coming from a video called "birthday.mov", it will work correctly, hinting what may be the problem.

Thanks for your report. Although it might be slightly confusing, from a logical point of view, the actual behavior is correct. What is your proposal then ? Do you expect the Bin search filter to be cleared when we call "clip in project bin" from the timeline ?
Comment 2 Kris 2025-09-23 08:07:12 UTC
Thanks for responding.

I can't think of a scenario where I would sacrifice the convenience of the "find clip" feature always working (I even have a hotkey assigned to it) for the sake of keeping the filter in the project bin.

Maybe the design of the current approach should be reconsidered, since finding the 1 specific media clip in the bin based on a clip in the timeline should logically be never constrained by a filter, unless I'm missing something.
