Sentry Crash Report:

Description Axel Braun 2025-09-15 10:41:00 UTC
I have a strange behaviour since ~1 month (around release of KDE 25.08):

When I watch a video (e.g. youtube) the sound over loudspeaker turns down (low volume) after some seconds. In the sound control panel, I can increase it up to 150%, with no effect.
This happens for
- videos from browser (e.g. youtube), tested Falkon and Firefox
- vlc player

NOT affected: Earphone output

I did a cross check with the live media from Linux Mint, and could not observe the problem. So it seems not to be a hardware problem.

Operating System: openSUSE Tumbleweed 20250911

When this happens, it's an app doing it, taking advantage of a PulseAudio/PipeWire module that listens for apps asking for it. As such, it's not a KDE issue but rather a semi-expected combination of apps interacting with the way the system has been pre-configured.
