Description sh 2025-09-15 07:25:58 UTC
SUMMARY
App (digikam and showfoto) does not appear in Apple Launchpad

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Install mac app
2. Try to launch app with Apple Launchpad

OBSERVED RESULT
Apps do not appear

EXPECTED RESULT
Apps should appear

SOLUTION:
According to this post https://stackoverflow.com/a/35689026 it seams that the Info.plist of both apps are missing the mandatory key CFBundleVersion. After adding this to the Info.plist of digikam and showfoto both apps appear in Launchpad right away.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
macOS: 15.6.1

It work for me (last MacOS version and 8.8.0 pre-release).

Please uninstall previous digiKam from your computer and re-install it.

You can use 8.8.0 in production, it will be a bug fix release:

LauchPad from macOS Sequoia with digiKam 8.9.0 installed

I buy a new mac mini M1 for my wife. The system is clean, never used and macOS Sequoia freshly installed. digiKam icon appears properly in Lauchpad as expected...
