Description 318bcb 2025-09-14 16:13:11 UTC
SUMMARY
When using a gtk-based desktop, there is no way to make KDE Connect or KDE SMS use dark mode. On the other hand, KDE Connect settings and KDE Connect Indicator *do* use dark mode when configured with qt6ct.

GNOME users have GSConnect, but Cinnamon, Mate, and XFCE users do not.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Use a gtk-based desktop.
2. Set your desktop to dark mode.
3. Launch KDE Connect

OBSERVED RESULT
The app uses a white background which cannot be changed.

EXPECTED RESULT
The app should use dark mode.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Windows:
macOS:
(available in the Info Center app, or by running `kinfo` in a terminal window)
Linux/KDE Plasma: Debian 13
KDE Plasma Version:
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.13.0
Qt Version: 6.8.2

I also tested this in LXQT Debian Trixie: despite having LXQT set to dark mode, KDE Connect uses light mode. So the issue isn't limited to gtk desktops.
