SUMMARY
The "Update fingerprints" in the "Similarity" sidebar updates fingerprints from the entire library, ignoring the limitations of selected albums/tags.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Right-click on an album in the "Albums" sidebar.
2. Choose "Find Duplicates..."
3. Click on "Update fingerprints."

OBSERVED RESULT
digiKam rebuilds fingerprints of images outside the selected album.

EXPECTED RESULT
digiKam rebuilds fingerprints of images only from the selected album.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux: openSUSE Tumbleweed
KDE Plasma Version: 6.4.3
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.15.0
Qt Version: 6.9.1
Comment 1 Maik Qualmann 2025-09-07 05:49:35 UTC
The intention is to update all fingerprints. The button's tooltip already indicates that "all" fingerprints will be updated. It would cause problems if only the selected albums were updated, because people often "forget" to create the fingerprints.
