SUMMARY

Hey Folks, Fabulous Application and a god-send to me for sorting my massive photo collection of Travels & Family History. I have been utilising the Search Tool to easily locate specific Tags, Albums, Photos, etc, however have a small bug-bear that I would like to put forward as a Wish on later versions.

When in the Advanced Search Tool, and under Albums., I have encountered this scenario:

If you have subfolders that sit under an Album Topic, such as... "Travels > Tourist Attractions > Museums", "Photos From 20xx > Museums > Art", etc, and you wish to include the subfolders in the Advanced Search, you have to manually select each sub-album to be included within the query, if the Root in that Branch doesn't have any images, but the sub-folders do.

It can be a bit time-consuming to set up each search if you have many qualifying sub-folders under a master topic/folder. What is lacking here is a Recursive Folder Option, which you could select to state that you want the specific Album Folder AND all sub-folders under that branch selected within the query, rather than having to manually select them.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Windows: Windows 11 24H2

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I have noticed that there is a Recursive Folder option in the DigiKam Settings for Maintenance, etc. Can this not be factored into Advanced Searches, too?

In the advanced Search dialog, go to the album selector combobox. Select one item and popup the contextual menu over it. Go to Select option and turn on the right option to be recursive...
