This already works; it's just not very obvious how to do it. Here are instructions: 1) Go into KDE Control Center : Regiional & Accessibility : Keyboard Layout 2) Check "Enable keyboard layouts" 3)Choose your keyboard model (or as close as possible) from the list. 4) Voila! Open KMenuEdit and assign multimedia key to different apps. Here are some tips: - Run the command "xset dpms force standby" for sleep - In konqueror, go Settings : Configure Shortcuts, there find such things as "Back", "Forward", "Stop", etc. and assign the multimedia key as the alternate key. Could someone add something like the following as a tip for KDE startup?: "If you have a keyboard with multimedia keys on the top you can get them to work by..." Thanks for your report ; I think you can close this bug now. Well, i have a Logitech Itouch keyboard and after selecting the right keyboard, everything works except internet and multimedia keys. Unfortunately. I think this one can be kept open... agree, this doesn't work -- and it should If you selected the right keyboard and it didn't work, then you didn't select the right keyboard. But those keyboard maps come with X server and as such this has nothing to do with KDE, complain to X devels if you can't find a keyboard map which would work for you. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 60626 *** Bug closed. Kdesktop is no more mantained. |
