Description Ivan Drago 2025-08-19 06:57:07 UTC
SUMMARY
Unable to delete pictures open in Gwenview that are stored on a NAS

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Very simply, I have a Network Drive with a Shared Folder. To access my Network Drive in Fedora KDE, I simply open Dolphin File Manager > "Network" > "Shared Folders (SMB)" > "NAS Name", then I see my Shared Folder, I bookmarked them in dolphin and that's it. If I browse to a folder in Dolphin and double click a photo, it opens in Gwenview, however, if I try and delete the photo, it says Access Denied To Trash. After troubleshooting with AI, I learned I can press SHIFT+DELETE and that will work, but any other delete method such as hitting DEL or using the hamburger menu and selecting Wastebin will not work.
2.
3.

OBSERVED RESULT
Unable to delete pictures within Gwenview if the photo is on a Network Drive.

EXPECTED RESULT
I would be able to delete the photo.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

I just discovered it is doing this same thing with GThumb picture viewer too. Is this a wider issue with KDE Fedora not respecting or utilising Network Share recycle / trash folders?
