The saved image after rectangular selection is astonishingly poor. 
Not exactly what is expected from a screenshot. I sent a couple of emails with screenshot attachments assuming the usual quality, only to later discover that my request could not acted up because of a bad screenshot.

Can you attach one of the bad images?

Do you have JPEG set as the image format to save in, with "Compression Quality" set to a very low value?
