Using the general font here is intentional; we generally only use the small font for captions and subtitles. Hi Nate, thanks for the quick answer. OK, I figured it was on purpose, but my problem is that you can't adjust the size (and font) of desktop icon labels independently from those in menus and the rest of the interface. And in general, we need them to be significantly smaller... Maybe it should be possible to define an additional font in Plasma: “General,” “Small,” and “Desktop Icons.” Why do you feel the need for the desktop icon labels to be significantly smaller? What's the problem with their current size? It's just that when I adjust the font general size for the menus and the rest of the interface, it's too large (for Me) for the desktop icons. In MS/Windows (vade retro Satanas...), I used to adjust the icons labels font as significantly smaller than the font I used for menus and text. If I remember correctly, I think Xfce also allows you to adjust the font for desktop icons independently of the font used for the general interface. But, OK, I can live with that ! Thank you for your work, Plasma is magnificent. You're welcome! When you adjust the general font, it will adjust the font for desktop icons too, since they use the general font. I guess I'm still not getting why it would make sense to use a smaller-than-normal font for just desktop icons. There are two reasons: i) the icon labels are very short and immediately truncated, and ii) I use wide screens and set the general font size to 13 or 14 points, which I find too large for the icon labels, which I would prefer to have in 9 or 10 points. But it's just a matter of personal habit and aesthetics. It's Me again, OK, in Windows it is no longer possible to set the icon font separately since... Windows 7. This setting has been removed, along with almost all interface font settings. Now you can only increase or decrease the font size as a whole. I must confess that I do not use Windows very often ... Don't waste your time with that. |
