SUMMARY
App is broken out of the box.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Install Kasts
2. Open Kasts
3. Type any text into the Discover search box, click search

OBSERVED RESULT
Nothing found
https://api.poscastindex.org/api/1.0/search/...
Error code 204: Host requires authentication

Of course there is no way to supply this authentication in Kasts.

EXPECTED RESULT
The app will work just like all other podcast players on the planet.

Another broken out of the box kde. Please fix it, the app is useless without the most basic search.

Also tried with 25.04.3 also broken. Same error message when trying to search for a podcast.

App is broken and obviously no one uses this software, another useless broken kde app.

I am uninstalling. Go ahead and close this bug report if you want.

The error you are seeing is due to the podcastindex.org server not processing your request.  This occurs once in a while, usually when their server is down (e.g. for maintenance).  As far as I know, the server has not been down for more than a few hours, so retrying a bit later should just work.

Another possibility is that the connection has been refused/blocked temporarily if the server is getting hammered with requests.  Again, I've not heard any reports about it being down for anyone for more than a few hours max.

I checked it myself less than an hour after receiving your bug report, and I had no issue using the discover functionality on my side.

But, in any case, this error has *nothing* to do with the app itself.  The app is contacting an external, third-party server.  If that server cannot be contacted for whatever reason, there is literally nothing the app can do.  It's like complaining that a third-party youtube app sucks because it didn't work when the youtube servers were down.
