Thanks for the bug report! I wasn't able to reproduce this with Fedora 42 Plasma 6.4.3 in a VM On one system with git-master, I was able to reproduce it but it's intermittent, about every 5th attempt On a second system with git-master, I was consistently able to reproduce it. Both are laptops. I noticed I couldn't seem to reproduce it if an external mouse was connected. With just the touchpad available, I was able to 1. Open KRunner, position the mouse below it 2. Type in a 3. If the highlight doesn't change, press backspace and then a again . It's X11-specific . *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 508524 *** |
SUMMARY If your mouse pointer is placed in the area where KRunner's drop-down list will appear, once you start typing, KRunner will shortly switch the focus to whichever item happens to be under the pointer. This is _without_ moving the mouse. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Place the mouse below KRunner (assuming it's at the top of the screen); perhaps 25% of the way down the screen 2. Start typing something that will result in a lot of entries shown OBSERVED RESULT KRunner lists a number of results; the top ("best") result is highlighted/selected. After a moment, the item which happens to be under the mouse pointer gets selected instead. EXPECTED RESULT The top result stays selected unless I actively move my mouse. That way I can just hit ENTER to select the (most likely) correct entry instead of an arbitrary entry further down the list. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: openSUSE Tumbleweed 20250801 KDE Plasma Version: 6.4.3 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.16.0 Qt Version: 6.9.1 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION This did not first appear in 6.4.3, I'm sure; I've noticed it for, probably, months(?) but it was intermittent and I never looked for the root cause till today. While I've got openSUSE listed here as my OS, it also occurs for me on another system where I've built from source.
