SUMMARY

On the KDE Linux (and KDE neon) installation process, you can choose the keyboard type.
I chose a Japanese keyboard, but it appears that the keyboard is still recognized as an English keyboard (or other keyboard for a Western language?).

1. Choose Generic 105-key keyboard > Japanese > Default keyboard
2. Focus on the text input for the test
3. Type `1234567890` with the shift key.

OBSERVED RESULT

`!@#$%^&*()` (probably English key map) is entered in the text input

EXPECTED RESULT

`!"#$%&'()~` is entered in the text input

Thanks for the bug report!. Let's move the discussion to https://invent.kde.org/kde-linux/kde-linux/-/issues; can you open an report there if this is still happening to you with the latest image?

We're transitioning away from Bugzilla for KDE Linux in the interest of centralizing everything on invent for simplicity (despite Gitlab Issues being in some ways inferior to Bugzilla; we're going to give it a go and see how it works out).
