This could also be due to a lack of support in Discord. We pass a file URL and path to the drag and drop metadata in text format. Perhaps Discord expects a full image in the drag and drop metadata. However, I would expect a file URL to be sufficient for Discord. Maik Well, I can only confirm that it doesn‘t work. And it makes digiCam completly unusable for me, hence the severity. I don't have Discord access and can't test it. Have you tried this post yet? My understanding is that Discord has discontinued support for third-party apps. It would be worth testing the registry change, but it's probably just a workaround for the recent file list in Explorer. Have you read Discord's notes about the relatively small supported file size for drag and drop? https://support.discord.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/360055622912-I-can-t-drag-and-drop-files-for-upload-from-the-recent-files-in-quick-access-on-windows Maik Thank you. Didn‘t work though I tried with an 4kb image, doesn‘t work. Works from everywhere else. >Works from everywhere else.
So typically from the Microsoft file explorer ?

Also, you sue the Discord application fro Windows right ? Did you try the alternative to be connected to Discord from a web browser (Firefox for ex), and try the D&D from digiKam ? Another test. Run digiKam with DebugView in background as explained here : https://www.digikam.org/contribute/#windows-host ... And try to catch the digiKam debug traces when you operates the D&D to Discord... Gilles Caulier Discord Windows Client, yeah. Can‘t try on web currently, but also nothing I would want. I will try to provide the logs when back from holiday. Works from Windows Explorer. I use Directory Opus, works from there. I use PhotoTagger, works from there. Tried DebugView. Nothing at all gets printed when I drag something over. It's clear that if we drop outside of digiKam, we don't get any feedback on whether it was successful. We've passed the metadata, but we don't know what the other program does with it. You could try another KDE/Qt program to see if it works. If you want, you can try Dolphin, the file manager. I don't know if the nightly build currently works; I can't test it on Windows until tomorrow. Then we might have a clue. https://cdn.kde.org/ci-builds/system/dolphin/release-25.08/windows/ Maik I can't find the file manager in Dolphin, sorry. The open button opens the native file browser. I use Dolphin a lot though and never noticed something there. But also you don't really need to drag something from Dolphin to Discord. With images though, you need that very much when you want to share images there. @Kazuto, The digiKam 8.8.0 pre-release Windows installer will be updated from Qt framework 6.8.3 to 6.9.0 in one hour. I suspect that the problem was in the Qt framework and fixed in recent releases. The file will be available soon at this place: https://files.kde.org/digikam/ Please test give us a feedback to see if the dysfunction still reproducible. Thanks in advance Gilles Caulier |
