SUMMARY
Running plasma without wayland because last time I checked it wasn't working with everything I needed to work (that was last year some time)
A few months ago this problem started. I noticed it first with firefox. Trelby also has the issue and it kills me because I can't close the window and I can't save my work. So I lose work if I haven't saved before doing a search and replace.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Run KDE/Plasma.
2. Use and normal.
3. Run Firefox.
4. Open another firefox window. Use window, maybe let it sit for a few days.
5. Press the X in the upper right corner and nothing happens.
6. However, file -> exit works on apps that have the exit menu option. It's like the signal isn't making it to the app or something.

OBSERVED RESULT
Window fails to close

EXPECTED RESULT
Window should close

I found a work around. Restarting plasma did not fix the issue, but restarting kwin_x11 does. I was able to save my work...
