Can confirm this on Fedora 42 with the Breeze Dark / Twilight global themes I don't see this effect in git-master or Neon Testing, so it looks like it's due to be removed. It has been removed from the effects page and now lives in the KWin debug console only, maybe that's why. I don't know why it may be removed completely. I can confirm this bug on git-master. I'll fix this tomorrow. We're hardcoding the background colour:
color: Qt.rgba(1.0, 1.0, 1.0, 0.5)
which is not appropriate when we want to use theme colours as well.
