Created attachment 182882 [details] amdgputop screenshot showing resource usage increase SUMMARY I have my panel set to dodge windows, and frequently, when maximizing a window or moving a window over the panel (and thus hiding it), the system will show increased CPU and Graphics usage by the plasmashell process and thus increased power draw for the duration the panel is not visible. Revealing the panel by restoring the window, moving the window out of the way of the panel, or hovering the mouse over the panel restores normal idle CPU and Graphics usage behavior. On a laptop, this results in idle power jumping from 4W to nearly 12W, which is wasteful and detrimental to battery life. Attached amdgputop screenshot shows the resource usage increase described above. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Set panel to dodge windows 2. Maximize or hover window over panel 3. Observe excessive CPU and GPU usage OBSERVED RESULT Excessive CPU and GPU usage EXPECTED RESULT Low to minimal CPU and GPU impact SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: Arch Linux KDE Plasma Version: 6.4.2 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.15.0 Qt Version: 6.9.1 Kernel Version: 6.15.4-arch2-1 (64-bit) Graphics Platform: Wayland Processors: 20 × AMD Ryzen AI 9 365 w/ Radeon 880M Memory: 32 GiB of RAM (30.5 GiB usable) Graphics Processor: AMD Radeon 890M Graphics
