Can you post a screenshot of the timeline and specify what sources you are using?

Screenshot to kdnlive Bug 506315 title-clips dont work on .mp4

On this screenshot you can see a "MarkerMuster2" (title-clip) over an "Beute-25fps.mp4" (film from camera) (at the purple Marker).
I have to disable that clip to prevent crashing.
At the playing mark you see a titlt-clip named "Dolichovespula Saxonica" over an .jpg named "Wespenarten.jpg" that works like it should do. To proove that you can see it in the windows on top of the timeline.
Thanks a lot and best regards

I can see your setup, thanks for sharing. But I cannot reproduce the problem: a title clip works just fine on an .mp4 here.

What Preferred Track Composition Method do you use (it's in Settings > Configure Kdenlive > Misc)?

think i know the bug...

hi Bernd,
dammmm, you are right.... On "normal" (not adjusted) .mp4 it works without crashing...
...BUT...
in MY case this part of the .mp4 (witch causes the crashing) is a single FRAME of the movie adjusted to fit in his place.
Well... took me a time to notice that...
Thank you for your patience!

that composition crashes

title clip on *.mp4.
In this case the used .mp4 is a SINGLE FRAME of a video adjusted to fit in his place.
(Simmilar to the *jpg in the previous screenshot "kdnlive work". The .jpg is a screenshot of the SINGLE FRAME .mp4.
The difference is that the composition with .jpg works and the composition with the SINGLE FRAME .mp4 crashes.
Comment 9 Christoph Wickel 2025-07-27 09:51:26 UTC
hallo and thanks for helping!
To make the situation more clearly i send you 2 screenshoots "kdnlive work.png" and "kdnlive crashes.png".
Screenshot "kdnlive work" shows a title clip on a .jpg picture. That works.
Screenshot "kdnlive crashes" shows the same title clip on the same SINGLE FRAME of the part of the film as .mp4. That crashes.
In that case this SINGLE FRAME of the video is used to show a specific situation and the SINGLE FRAME is adjusted to fit his place in the timeline.
HTH

Thanks for your report. I see that you are using the Sharp/Unsharp effect, which was recently reported as crashing Kdenlive (Kdenlive Bug 507492). So maybe this is the real problem. Could you try to disable the Sharp/Unsharp effect and see if this solves the crash ?

Comment 13 Jean-Baptiste Mardelle 2025-07-31 06:28:49 UTC
There is a sharpen (deprecated) effect in Kdenlive that should do the job. In the meantime, I fixed the problem with the sharp/unsharp effect
