Enlarged state of audio volume widget

SUMMARY
When I disconnect and reconnect my monitor, the volume widget suddenly takes up much more space on my (vertical) panel. It stays like that until I restart plasma.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Have only a single monitor
2. Add an Audio Volume widget to a (vertical?) panel
3. Disconnect the monitor's video cable
4. Reconnect the cable

OBSERVED RESULT
5. The Audio Volume widget suddenly takes up a lot more space on the panel, as if you had added spacer widgets above and below it.

EXPECTED RESULT
5. Panel widgets should keep their original dimensions.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: EndeavourOS/Arch x86_64
KDE Plasma Version: 6.4.1
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.15.0
Qt Version: 6.9.1

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I'm not sure of whether to file this under Panel or Audio Volume widget, so please reassign it if wrong.

I only have a single monitor, so the system has no displays while it is disconnected.

It is an ultrawide, 5120x1440.

Wayland.
