Screenshot showing the issue in Display & Monitor settings

SUMMARY
Previously an icon used to show up indicating how the monitor looks when changing monitor resolution. Now that is missing after the update to 6.4 version

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Update KDE to 6.4 version.
2. Open "Display & Monitor" settings
3. The monitor icon/widget is missing and doesn't appear even after changing screen resolution

OBSERVED RESULT
No icon/widget indicating the changes in monitor appearance

EXPECTED RESULT
Icon/Widget showing the appearance changes in the monitor while changing screen resolution

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Windows:
macOS:
(available in the Info Center app, or by running `kinfo` in a terminal window)
Linux/KDE Plasma: 6.15.3-arch1-1 (64-bit) (Arch Linux)
KDE Plasma Version: 6.4.0
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.16.0
Qt Version: 6.9.1

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Already tried removing the cache, deleting the config files and creating a new account to test, reinstalling the plasma package. Only other option I can think of is wiping out the drive and reinstalling KDE.

I'm seeing some regressions with kscreen in 6.4.0, too.

I notices, that Kscreen2 service isn't auto-loaded. Have you checked this, "kcmshell6 kcm_kded"?

As a possible side effect, previously stored screen settings, such as brightness, are not restored at desktop start-up.

Same here. kscreen2 is not running. But even with that running, the issue is not fixed. I also noticed that the wallpaper was thick white edges for some reason. Removing cache and config, fixed that issue, though I don't know whether it was removing cache or config that fixed it.

This is an intentional change. If you have a single monitor it won't be displayed, if you have 2 or more then they will be displayed.
You can read about it here. https://blogs.kde.org/2025/03/29/this-week-in-plasma-zero-vhi-bugs-and-much-more/

samoht0 don't know about your issue, but please report a separate bug ticket if you want.

Thank you for the reply. I missed that part on the page. Though I would have liked if the screen representation remained for single monitor too. But it might be just that I am not used to the new changes.

You'll get used to it and I'm sure KDE people will monitor for the amount of bugs for this change. So far there's only 1 so looks like people don'
t mind it.
Changing the status back to intentional because nothing was fixed/changed here so it's more precise.
