SUMMARY
When I wake my Lenovo Legion 5 laptop from sleep, the system wakes up as normal, however, the display remains off. The display turns on as normal when I press any key on my keyboard or move my mouse. So, the display is in a similar state to when the screen turns off after a period of inactivity as set in the power management options in the system settings.

This issue was not present prior to Plasma 6.4. This issue also happens whether I suspend by pressing the power button, clicking the sleep button in the application launcher, or by closing the lid. I have also tried waking my laptop up both by opening the lid and by pressing the power button, and it makes no difference.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Suspend laptop
2. Wake up laptop
3. See black screen
4. Perform any keyboard or mouse input
5. See lockscreen appear

OBSERVED RESULT
Display remains black on wake up

EXPECTED RESULT
Waking up should also turn on screen

When you say that you wake your laptop from sleep, how are you doing this, specifically?
Comment 2 Javier Neri 2025-06-20 16:38:14 UTC
(In reply to Nate Graham from comment #1)
> When you say that you wake your laptop from sleep, how are you doing this,
> specifically?

This is either by opening the lid of my laptop or by pressing the power button. Either method leads to the same result of the screen remaining black prior to any keyboard or mouse input.
Comment 3 Javier Neri 2025-06-24 10:53:06 UTC
After further testing, this seems to only occur when the "When sleeping, enter" setting in Power Management is set to Standby, then hibernate. If i set it to Standby only, then the screen displays right away from waking up as expected.
Comment 4 Nate Graham 2025-06-25 19:21:24 UTC
Sounds like it's hibernating very quickly. Does the happen only when you put the system to sleep in this manner and wait for at least a few minutes? Or does it also happen if you put the system to sleep and then wake it up immediately?
Comment 5 Javier Neri 2025-06-26 08:01:04 UTC
It also happens even if I resume immediately after putting the system to sleep, regardless again if I wake the system via the power button or opening the lid.

I am not sure if it is from hibernating right away. The system resumes as expected from sleep, that is all apps are still open with state preserved. The logs also don't suggest anything about entering hibernation. However, I may just be mistaken.

The following are my logs during a suspend then wake cycle:
