This appears to be a wayland issue rather than amarok - see https://discuss.kde.org/t/plasmashell-flooding-syslog-in-wayland/13569 and other places... I've removed wikipedia from my enabled applets and the size of /var/log/syslog is no longer increasing at a mad rate! (the applet didn't appear to be working in wayland) Thank you for the report! I tested Qt6 based Amarok in Wayland environment (in VirtualBox though) and Wikipedia applet seemed to work ok, and got no such errors in syslog. I don't have test system readily available to try Qt5 Amarok to see if the problem's reproducible there, or if it's something distribution / graphics adapter specific. I haven't seen any other mentions of such problems yet, so possibly dependent on some specifics. But a Qt6 based stable version shouldn't be that far away, hopefully that will also fix this issue. Have you had a chance to try a Qt6 based version yet? (3.3.0 or later) I suspect that this one got fixed with the Qt update I'm now on kubuntu 25.10 and that is still on 3.2.2 of amarok. Do you know of a ppa with version 3.3, otherwise I may have to bit the bullet and either build it myself or use the flatpack version. I've also reverted to X11 from wayland - for this and other reasons, one of which I intend to bug report here. I have barely any idea, but a after a bit of digging, this one turned up https://launchpad.net/~joe-yasi/+archive/ubuntu/kde5backports/+packages and the version number 3.3.2-1ubuntu1+yasi1~25.10 seems promising. |
