Summary:
Battery Monitor in System Tray widget shows incorrect tooltip content (Plasma 6.1.4 on Debian Testing)

Description:
After upgrading to Plasma 6.1.4 on Debian Testing (Trixie), the Battery Monitor inside the System Tray widget occasionally displays incorrect tooltip information when hovered.

Instead of showing the expected battery status (e.g. “Charging: 87%”), the tooltip sometimes shows information from unrelated widgets, such as the volume level or network status. The behavior is inconsistent but reproducible, and occurs under both Wayland and X11 sessions.

According to the Plasma 6.1.4 changelog, a fix for tooltip behavior in the Battery Monitor was introduced. However, the issue persists on Debian Testing, possibly due to a regression or unresolved integration issue within the tray system.

Steps to Reproduce:

    1. Use an up-to-date Debian Testing system with Plasma 6.1.4

    2. Ensure the Battery Monitor is visible in the System Tray

    3. Hover over the battery icon

    4. Observe the tooltip content

Expected Result:
The tooltip correctly displays the current battery status (e.g. “Charging: 87%”)

Actual Result:
The tooltip occasionally displays unrelated information, such as volume or network status.

Component affected:
Battery Monitor inside the System Tray widget

Regression:
This issue was not present in Plasma 6.1.2. It first appeared after the update to 6.1.4.

Software Versions:

    - Plasma: 6.1.4

    - KDE Frameworks: 6.5.0

    - Qt: 6.5.1

    - OS: Debian Testing (Trixie), Kernel 6.8.11

    - Session: Wayland (also tested under X11 – same result)

    - Display driver: Intel iGPU (Mesa)

Thank you for the bug report!

However Plasma 6.1.4 is no longer eligible for support or maintenance from KDE; supported versions are 5.27. (LTS), and 6.3 (non-LTS) or newer. Please upgrade to a supported version as soon as your distribution makes it available to you. Plasma is a fast-moving project, and bugs in one version are often fixed in the next one.

If you need support for Plasma 6.1.4, please contact your distribution, who bears the responsibility of providing support for older releases that are no longer supported by KDE.

If you can reproduce the issue after upgrading to a supported version, feel free to re-open this bug report.
