Description ungive 2025-05-16 21:31:20 UTC
SUMMARY
kdeconnect does not report the name of the app that is playing music via MPRIS. It would be useful to know the android app name (or ios app name) of the app that is playing music, so apps on the desktop can use that information

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Connect to KDE Connect with your phone and play music.
2. Enter `playerctl -p kdeconnect metadata`
3. Observe it does not report any field that says what app is playing the music.

OBSERVED RESULT
It doesn't report anything of the sort.

EXPECTED RESULT
A field that contains the Android/iOS app's bundle ID. A custom field would make sense for this with a custom prefix, see https://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Specifications/mpris-spec/metadata

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Windows:
macOS:
(available in the Info Center app, or by running `kinfo` in a terminal window)
Linux/KDE Plasma:
KDE Plasma Version:
KDE Frameworks Version:
Qt Version:

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Not sure why the issue template only speaks of bug reports, when https://kdeconnect.kde.org/users.html says feature requests should be made here:
