The format with the smallest file size is placed at the top for faster viewing during a preview action. Maik *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 460991 *** So lets phrase my request differently. I agree to use the smallest image for fast thumbnailing. In my use case I'm doing a click on the thumbnail to seen the image fullscreen and then navigating with the arrow keys through the images for doing rating, ... Often I have processed the raw images with RawTherapee (white balance, lens correction, perspective, rotation, cropping, ...) and store them with same name (same group) as tiff images. These I would like to see in this part of my process. Greetings, Jens. If you want to see the images, you have to open the group. You can also open all groups at once; this is possible in the View menu. In the digiKam settings under Miscellaneous -> Grouping, you can specify whether you want to be prompted or whether all images in the group should be used automatically, for example, by opening them in Tools or Image Editor. Maik In that case all my metadata changes are only applied to the tif image, instead of all images in the group. Greetings, Jens You can set whether you want to be asked each time whether it should be applied to all images in the group or automatically yes or no. Maik "Apply metadata to all images" is set (probably not the exact entry, I'm using the German version). I select "Show grouped pictures". With that I can see the group, containing 2 pictures, jpg on top and the corresponding raw picture. Applying metadata to the raw picture (setting the green flag) is not applied to the jpg file. Greetings, Jens I can't reproduce the problem here; color labels, ratings, etc., are written to both files. What are your exact settings for metadata behavior and sidecar? Please create a debug log from the terminal, as described here for Linux: https://www.digikam.org/contribute/#linux-host Maik Another note: applying metadata only applies to a closed group; when the group is open, only the respective image is tagged individually. Maik Writing to both files works as expected (only for closed groups). Back to my use case. I understood your proposal (to navigate through the tiff files) to use "Show grouped pictures", filter for tiff pictures and use that for navigating through the images. But in that case the write of metadata goes only into the tiff files (as expected). So what to do to get the metadata into the entire group? Greetings, Jens If you think, that use case is an exotic one, you can close that enhancement request as "will not be fixed". But I still hope that I'm not alone with this request. Greetings, Jens Maik, which decision to go with this file ? Finally it's a bug or a wish ? Comments let's understand both... Best Gilles From my perspective it is a wish (enhancement request) |
