Title says it all. Dolphin won't show thumbnails over folders, so I tried cleaning out .cache folder, no dice and worse yet, it won't generate themselves. Tried opening Dolphin through console for error log and it isn't printing anything. 

Tried reinstalling essential packages listed as mentioned here;

But that didn't do any difference.

This is only happening on X11, so it must has something to do with it. On Wayland, everything of thumbnails, displaying over folders and generating themselves work like a charm. Has been happening as of, I recall, 6.3.1 or 6.3.2, can't really remember but definitely around these versions, has been happening for a month roughly.

Looking deeper into this, seems like everything, but EVERYTHING related to displaying thumbnails is non-functional on X11, not just off Dolphin.

In addition, I often see seemingly hung kio worker processes. Also, when closing dolphin, the process continues to run in the background. When logging out and logging back in, all the running dolphin processes are restored, resulting in many dolphin windows opened, depending on how many there were in the background when logging out.

so thumbnails were clearly working start of the year, someone broke it, now its not working for two months already and nothing is being fixed and no, its not a duplicate of the bug mentioned above.
is x11 being treated like garbage again even though it will outlast wayland again?

version 24.12.3 seems to work but any other version breaks the preview for thumbnails ..... 7 months and no fix? seriously?

do you have all automatic ? or are you using software rendering ?
