Description Nik Nikovsky 2025-04-29 21:58:00 UTC
SUMMARY
I wanted to connect to my NAS, but I forgot to generate a GPG key so I cancelled the request.
And after that it never worked again

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open an app (for example Dolphin) through Konsole
2. Attempt to connect to a NAS (or anything that requires a password)
3. Observe.

OBSERVED RESULT
kf.kio.core: Can't communicate with kiod_kpasswdserver (for checkAuthInfo)! "Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken."

EXPECTED RESULT
The prompt for a wallet?

the same error can also be seen in the kwalletmanager app, just not formatted properly
Comment 2 John Kizer 2025-04-30 19:00:13 UTC
Hi - just to double-check, in System Settings > KDE Wallet, are the checkboxes enabled to "Enable the KDE Wallet Subsystem" and "Use KWallet for the Secret Service interface"?

Thanks!

Yes, but for some reason after restarting (and not even updating anything) it was able to create a wallet, although I needed to restart the wallet manager for the wallet to show up

This sounds a lot like Bug 504678. You can reopen if this still occurs with 6.15, or if you think this is a different bug.
