Seems like you're using custom icon themes, right? Does the issue stop happening if you switch back to the default "Breeze" icon theme and then reboot?

This doesn't make any sense; windows are not tiled by default when using either of our tiling systems. If you're seeing that windows are being automatically tiled when opened, this is the result of a window rule or KWin script that you or your distro has installed.
Overall it sounds to me like your system is misconfigured, the the issue being reported here is the tip of the iceberg. It would be interesting to know if any of these issues go away if you create and log into a new clean user account on the same system.
I understand the problem with the missing widget icons now better. In the last days I've downloaded Kubuntu 24.10 with Plasma 6.1 and Kubuntu 25.04 with Plasma 6.3, the same version as in Manjaro KDE and installed it onto external drives. The result was, that in the two Kubuntu versions all widgets had their icon. So, all was normal. Moreover, when I installed the new version of Manjaro, 25.0, also to an external drive, I saw immediately after applying the BigSur dark icon theme, that all widgets showed icons, also after a restart. The problems were present only in Manjaro 24.04. So, I did want to reinstall the 24.04 version of Manjaro, but I've deleted already the 24.04 ISO on my Ventoy stick. It could be that there was something wrong in a package, as I experienced already several times in the past: apps that showed suddenly a misbehavior, didn't open up or didn't work properly. As an example recently, I used a window decoration theme called "Utterly round dark solid" that suddenly showed a brown color decoration. This theme adjusts the color to the window color. Because I use a black window color, the window decoration color should also be black, But it was brown. I deleted the Utterly theme and reinstalled it. Now, after applying Utterly round dark solid, the window decoration was again black. And, so this way, it could have happened with the missing widget icons. How do you call the new system in Plasma 6, when you click on control panel settings, that transforms the desktop? Gnome has a similar system. Misconfigured system? I use my Mac configuration for years now, without any problem with missing icons. Or do you mean a suddenly misconfigured package that caused this problem with the missing widget icons, that goes away, when you reinstall Manjaro. Perhaps also a problem in Manjaro, don't know. So, it was not a real bug, as you imagined. Now I can finally choose again Manjaro KDE as my main system and I hope that Latte Dock will soon be available again in Plasma 6. Sounds like a 3rd-party theming issue, yeah. |
