pointer is smaller with higher zoom level
I checked scaling. The problem persists with display scaling set to 100% Thanks for the bug report. I'm able to reproduce this on git-master with these Zoom settings "Mouse Pointer" - "Keep" and "Mouse Tracking" - "Proportional". In fact, when I zoom into the desktop, I see two pointers. The second one moves up and to the left as I zoom in The "real" one changes as expected to the hand, I-beam, left-right etc while the second one stays the default pointer The second one doesn't show up in a screenshot, I'm attaching a picture from my phone. Note: It's easiest to see if a field is highlighted or not with Breeze Light Created attachment 180583 [details]
I-beam and pointer cursors
While zoomed in, the actual cursor turned into an I beam in a text field. The duplicated cursor did not.
I just realized this had been reported in bug 503186. Please follow that report for updates. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 503186 *** |
Created attachment 180543 [details] pointer shows as inside the dropdown area, but dropdown is not highlighted SUMMARY Mouse pointer is not scaled properly and not at expected position when "Mouse Pointer" is set to "Keep" As I zoom in, the mouse absolute size (the width of it on my screen) gets smaller. It also moves to the left of where I expect it to be and where the actual click location is. I imagine this may be related: I am using a display with resolution 3440x1440 (ultrawide 43:18) aspect ratio). I am also running 130% scaling. My guess is that the ultrawide aspect ratio is causing the pointer drift and the scaling is causing the pointer to get smaller as I zoom in. "Scaled" works well, although the mouse pointer is a constant size, relative to the content. I think calling this "scaled" is confusing. As a user, it seems like this should be called something like "Same size as content". I am obviously bad at naming things. I think I understand why it's called scaled, as the pointer is being scaled up as we zoom in. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Configure the "Zoom" desktop effect. Set "Mouse Pointer" to "Keep" and "Mouse Tracking" to either "Centered" or "Proportional". 2. Zoom in, with either Meta + = or Meta + Ctrl + Scroll Up 3. Observe location of pointer and location of click location by mousing over screen elements that change with mouseover. OBSERVED RESULT EXPECTED RESULT Mouse cursor stays the same absolute size on screen as I zoom in Mouse pointer stays at click location SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: Gentoo Linux 2.17 KDE Plasma Version: 6.3.4 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.10.0 Qt Version: 6.8.2 Kernel Version: 6.12.21-gentoo (64-bit) Graphics Platform: Wayland Processors: 24 × AMD Ryzen 9 3900X 12-Core Processor Memory: 62.7 GiB of RAM
