I open the Kasts adjust the volume to my liking. I close the app. Next time I open the app, the volume is reset to 100%.

Yeah, the app assumes that the audio backend remembers the volume/audio settings.  This works fine with pulseaudio and pipewire on linux, but unfortunately windows does not seem to remember app audio settings.  It's also not that easy setting the volume on startup (i.e. before any audio has played).
