SUMMARY

Title. In Kate 25.04.0 the search bar that shows up upon pressing ctrl+F is slightly larger than it should be.

I can't find the problem so closing. Reopen if you can explain the problem.

zoomed in searchbar

The search-bar has 0 padding, so when the search-bar has a dark border it pops out a bit more than the lighter containing frame/widget. The search-bar is not bigger, only looks like it. 
The left side is dynamic, based on the text in front of the search-bar, so not something that can be aligned to the left edge of the editor area.

Issues I do see is:
- There could be a left-margin before the text
- The search bar does not have the same border-line as the icon/line-number border (not as prominent if you have the scroll-bars always visible)

As this image shows, the ctrl+F search box lacks padding, while the dedicated search panel has ample padding.

That is by design that way for all the views in that bottom area of the editor.
Naturally one could revisit that idea.
