SUMMARY
When opening the kickoff menu and starting to type, the first letter gets typed out twice.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open kickoff
2. Start typing immediately

Please note that this doesn't occur every time, it seems to happen more when the system slow or when the menu is first loading/is reloading.

OBSERVED RESULT
First typed letter is duplicated

EXPECTED RESULT
First letter not to be duplicated

Cannot reproduce this at all in current git master, which will become Plasma 6.4 in a little under two months.

For what it's worth, I can't reproduce this on Fedora KDE 41, Plasma 6.3.4.

Any chance you could capture a screen recording, just to see if anything else happens to stand out while the Application Launcher is coming up?

No, not from my experience. And this big happens quite frequently, most notably on the first time typing into kickoff search after boot up, which isn't inherently a heavy load.

Thanks - in case there's helpful information there, would you be able to get the system journal records for the time right around when you observe the issue - ex. sudo journalctl --since="2025-04-29 16:29:00" --until="2025-04-29 16:31:00" if it happened at 4:30PM - and attach them here?

A similar issue seems to occur with global shortcuts, when pressing ctrl+alt+t shortly after login, Konsole opens twice
