Sentry Crash Report:

Description csbugs 2025-04-04 09:56:02 UTC
SUMMARY
a user in our company activated the baloo file search with file indexing of a nfs3 share in KDE systemsettings.
as the nfs3 share on SLES15SP6 is 500GB big and has many files, the network and the file server was slowed down severely and all users could barely work as their homes folders are also nfs shares.
as we killed the baloo_file_extractor and the whole baloo-process, everything was back to normal.
As a recommendation, there could be a checkbox or warning with "indexing over network".

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. activate in systemsettings file search with file indexing on a big NFS share.
2. wait until indexing starts
3.

OBSERVED RESULT
the NFS server is severely slowed down

EXPECTED RESULT
the network and the file server should have low impact. As a recommendation, there could be a checkbox or warning with in systemsettings-search: "indexing over network".
