Description Paul 2025-03-30 16:51:28 UTC
SUMMARY
The new octant characters in Unicode 16 render poorly in Konsole, where they render correctly in VTE based terminals. Mostly, they look very irregularly shaped/sized and broken up with various gaps and overlaps making octant graphics look broken.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. View octant graphics.

OBSERVED RESULT
See they look incorrect due to various rendering artifacts.

EXPECTED RESULT
Clearly rendered/aligned blocks with no breaks or overlaps.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Windows:
macOS:

Operating System: Arch Linux
KDE Plasma Version: 6.2.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.10.0
Qt Version: 6.8.1

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
None that I know of but if more is needed, more can be given.

Hi - can you please provide some specific steps to reproduce - ex. a series of actions or commands to be run - so folks can be sure to reproduce the same situation you're seeing?

A screenshot of how things are rendering on your device would also be helpful.

Thanks!

Poor octant rendering

An example of how the rendering looks poor. ugly lines, a lot of things not lining up well, etc.
