Some more information that is probably relevant: my filesystem is ext3, and before the reboot the computer shut down when the battery died - at that time kmail was probably running. The problem is that KMail doesn't write the index of the currently open folder until this folder is left and KMail doesn't write the index of the five system folders (inbox is one of them) until KMail is quit. In your case KMail wasn't shutdown cleanly and this resulted in the problems you reported. To prevent this problem from occurring again please always quit KMail when you stop working with you laptop (or alternatively make sure that your laptop never runs out of energy). I have the same problem with kmail 1.4.3 KDE 3.0.5 (Suse 8.1 installed from DVD followed by online update). I'm using it as a pop3 Client. On my old Athlon 500 MHz I've never had a problem with kmail. maildir-Format ist selected and "Alle Ordner komprimieren". This problem first occured with my new P4 2.6 GHz. |
