A Screenshot of the Cursor Over an Invisibly Obscured Button That Isn't Highlighted

SUMMARY & STEPS TO REPRODUCE

Chronologically:

1. The boundaries of overlapping tiles cause buttons that render atop (or, rather beneath) them to become unexpectedly uninteractible.
2. Continuing to subdivide them, where possible, causes the tiles' buttons to render atop the other buttons, rendering them expectedly uninteractible.

OBSERVED RESULT

1. The boundaries of the custom tile overlap any buttons that render at the same place.
2. The buttons themselves overlap, rendering the lower buttons uninteractible.

EXPECTED RESULT

The boundaries definitely shouldn't obscure the buttons. However, what to do when the buttons overlap each other isn't immediately evident to me.

Tiles clearly shouldn't be able to overlap like that; that's the problem. The fact that the buttons aren't interactive in this case is a symptom of the real problem.
