SUMMARY

I have Krusader (Version 2.7.2 "Peace of Mind") on two computers running Ubuntu


The right-click compression menu was working and then it stopped working on one of them and not the other.  Wherever I've looked for help it shows up as a bug fixed in 2021. I don't understand why it was working and then stopped. I would appreciate having it work again.

The computer where Krusader -> Compress Ark -> Here as Zip still works is 
(1) Ubuntu 22.04.5 LTS
Linux 6.8.0-52-generic #53~22.04.1-Ubuntu SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Wed Jan 15 19:18:46 UTC 2 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

The computer where the compression option does nothing is
(2) Ubuntu 22.04.5 LTS
Linux 5.15.0-133-generic #144-Ubuntu SMP Fri Feb 7 20:47:38 UTC 2025 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Right-click on a file
2. Select Compress Ark -> Here (as Zip)

OBSERVED RESULT
Nothing happens

EXPECTED RESULT
A compressed file /directory is created

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
As above

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

I would like to kow where to look to find the cause of the problem. There must be a difference between the compression system on the two machines (I'm guessing)

Tridral, do you have the same problem when using Dolphin?

Dear Toni,

Thank you very much for looking at this.

Since I filed the report, there have been a number of Ubuntu updates and
the compression in Krusader is now working. I've just tested Dolphin and
that works too.

I no longer have this problem.
