SUMMARY
I encountered an issue where KDE sound panel breaks (I can't change the default devices anymore, click on the the dot in the settings panel doesn't work and if I do in the tray icon mini panel, it shows toggles it on in the UI ,but keeps the old one also one and doesn't actually switch. It worked fine until yesterday, not today, no idea why.

2. Try to switch in the audio device in the audio panel or audio settings

OBSERVED RESULT

It works

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I'm observing this on 2 different computers (both running same OS and all available updates installed)

Something extra to note, one of the computers is clean install on friday and encounters the same issue.

I did try dowgrading pipewire wireplumber (using dnf downgrade pipewire wireplumber).

One more update, what seems to do anything is right clicking on the audio device in the sound panel and choosing play all audio via this device (same with mic).. It doesn't toggle the device visually but at leasst seems to change the actually used device

Found what was causing the issue, it's com.dec05eba.gpu_screen_recorder flatpak as strange as it is. Uninstalling that fixed it for both computers. Will report the issue to it's author also (and link to this issue)
