Sentry Crash Report:

Description Sergio 2025-03-01 12:09:04 UTC
SUMMARY

When you use a wayland plasma session, applications that require reading the screen or a window open a dialog to let the user authorize the operation and decide what to share.

The dialog is titled "Screen Sharing" and lists a series of things to be shared, organized in two panes, screens and windows. Above these items the dialog invariably asks "Choose what to share with Konsole" regardless of the specific application that is being shared a screen or a window with.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open "obs" (open broadcaster software)
2. Add a screen capture (pipewire) video source

OBSERVED RESULT
See the Screen Sharing dialog appear saying "Choose what to share with Konsole" even if the destination of the scaring is obs.

EXPECTED RESULT
A screen sharing dialog saying "Choose what to share with obs".

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
This may superficially seem just a cosmetic item, but in fact has an implication in that a user may be expecting to share his screen with something and then end up authorizing it to be shared with something else.

Thank you for the bug report!

However Plasma 6.2.5 is no longer eligible for support or maintenance from KDE; supported versions are 5.27. (LTS), and 6.3 (non-LTS) or newer. Please upgrade to a supported version as soon as your distribution makes it available to you. Plasma is a fast-moving project, and bugs in one version are often fixed in the next one.

If you need support for Plasma 6.2.5, please contact your distribution, who bears the responsibility of providing support for older releases that are no longer supported by KDE.

If you can reproduce the issue after upgrading to a supported version, feel free to re-open this bug report.

Issue is also present in plasma 6.3

Hi - just to double-check before confirming and retitling, does this only happen if you launch the program from a Konsole terminal? Ex. if you launch OBS Studio from an Application Launcher shortcut, connected to a .desktop file, does it then show the correct application name?

Thanks!

Thanks for making me do this check. You are right: it only happens when launching from the shell in a konsole terminal.

Thanks! We have the same issue then - confirming and adjusting the title to match.
