Description slartibart70 2025-02-28 22:35:49 UTC
I'm on the latest plasma git version and since the last update (28.02.25) i experience a strange behavior in mouse scrolling reactivity in browsers.

My setup is a logitech M525 mouse which has a 'scroll wheel high resolution' setting (i'm using solaar to activate this).
My systemsettings > mouse > scrolling speed is two tickmarks below the default (set towards 'slower')

I was using this setting since plasma5 and also in plasma6 without any problems in browsers like chromium/firefox/brave
Since the last update, if you scroll in those browsers in a longer (vertical) webpage, i experience stuttering especially in the downward scroll (that is, scrolling the web-content to the top of the screen to read more of the page).

This can be somewhat fixed by scrolling up a bit and down again - then the content moves as expected.
This happens a lot if you move the scrolling wheel slowly, giving it a more pronounced push/scroll, it seems to work flawlessly.

My current workaround is to disable smooth scrolling in firefox' settings or in chrome://flags experimental settings.
Then all is fine again even at slow scrolling speeds

Any idea what caused this sudden change in scrolling behaviour?
