SUMMARY
When leaving the system to lock itself, the animation is now choppy.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Wait the configured time.
2. Watch the choppy fade animation

OBSERVED RESULT
Choppy fade animation


EXPECTED RESULT
The smooth animation that used to play on Plasma 6.2

I was able to see what you describe using the clock widget on 6.3.2. I wasn't able to reproduce this on git-master
It looks like this has been fixed. You'll see the fix on your system either in 6.3.x or 6.4
