kdenlive supports a lot of proprietary RAW formats which is cool but surprisingly it seems to not support the free/open RAW format that exists, CinemaDNG.

Because my camera records in CinemaDNG, i have to use an famous, linux supporting but proprietary video editing tool. As far as i could see, pretty much every video editing tool supports CinemaDNG except for kdenlive. Not sure how that came to be but as CinemaDNG uses fully-documented, vendor-neutral, standard formats for video and imaging – DNG, TIFF/EP, and MXF and also the format is unencrypted and free from intellectual property encumbrances or license requirements, it should be no issue to implement it in kdenlive.

Strange for it to not support a free/open RAW format!
But maybe none of its developers bumped into it until now.
Or didn't have any samples to test.
If it's not easy to find free samples, maybe you can prepare a few and put them somewhere accessible to they can test temp when they start working on supporting this format.

If samples are needed, i am absolutely willing to provide them. If there is anything i can do to make this happen, i am willing to help. My C++/Qt knowledge is probably of no help but i am willing to test and provide data and so on.

I also think support for CinemaDNG makes a lot of sense.

Krita supports DNG. I believe KDENlive supporting the "cinema version" of it would also be a great addition!
