Description kirisora 2025-01-22 08:30:45 UTC
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Leave 2-in-1 Laptop in tablet mode until it goes to sleep
2. Wake up laptop
3. Try to log back in to plasma

OBSERVED RESULT
Login is unresponsive; pressing Enter or the login button does nothing

EXPECTED RESULT
Plasma logs back in without issues

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: Fedora Linux 41 (KDE Spin)
KDE Plasma Version: 6.2.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.9.0
Qt Version: 6.8.1

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I run a Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Yoga 3rd Gen (20LD001HUS) with an i7-8650U. System supports S3 sleep.
The bug has an easy workaround - press "Switch User" and log in that way. The session is still saved, everything works, but it is annoying to have to do it every time:) No clue if this is relevant, but this bug is not reproduced when I am on AC power and in Performance mode. When I am on battery I am on Balanced.

So the lock screen appears, right? What do you see on it, and what specifically is not responding as expected to your input?

Is this happening on X11 or Wayland or both?

Lock screen appears and looks like usual. You can enter your password, but you cannot submit it - pressing Enter or the button next to the input field just does nothing. Password stays inputted in the field and you can still edit it. The only buttons that do something is on-screen keyboard and switch user. I am on Wayland, haven't tested with x11

Thanks for the clarification. FWIW I cannot reproduce this issue myself on current git master.

Can you run the screen locker in test mode using a terminal window and see if it happens there? Run this command:

> QT_LOGGING_RULES="kscreenlocker_greet=true" /usr/libexec/kscreenlocker_greet --testing

You can alt+Tab to your terminal window and Ctrl+C to kill the testing lock screen if it gets stuck the same way. Afterwards, please copy and paster the text that was printed to the terminal window. Thanks!
