KRename Find and Replace window with default font sizes

Description Stuart K. Smith 2025-01-19 16:35:26 UTC
SUMMARY
When opening the "Find and Replace" dialog in Krename, the default window size and column widths are too small to be usable. Only 7 characters are visible in the "Find" column and only 4 in the "Replace" column. Enlarging the window helps, but the new window size and column widths are not retained, i.e. the next activation of the Find and Replace feature reopens with the very small window and columns.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Launch Krename and add files to it
2. Click the "Find and Replace" button
3. Observe the very small window
4. Expand window size and adjust column widths to a readable size
5. Make entries and click "OK"

OBSERVED RESULT
Re-open "Find and Replace" and it is once again too small to use.

EXPECTED RESULT
Have the window open in a usable size and column widths.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: KDEneon User Edition
KDE Plasma Version: 6.2.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.10.0
Qt Version: 6.8.1

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
IMO, the optimal functionality would be to have the Find and Replace window retain window and column geometry when the user makes adjustments. At a minimum, having geometry settings in ~/.confg/krenamerc would be sufficient for most users.

Hi - I do see that the window size and column widths together make it difficult to see everything.

One note here, I think the severity of what you're seeing is in part due to what looks like a larger font size that you've set on your device? See the attached screenshot from a Neon VM with all default settings.

Yes, I agree that it's probably worse for me becauseĀ I'm using 28" 4k monitors. My desktop font size is 14.
