I think this explanation is quiet helpful: https://blogs.gnome.org/hughsie/2013/04/24/auto-edid-icc-profiles/ but maybe too technical? but at least I get a sense now where the ICC profile comes from: > gnome-settings-daemon and colord-kde create an ICC profile based on the color information found in the EDID blob.
