Version: (using KDE Devel)
Installed from: Compiled sources
Compiler: gcc 2.95.3
OS: Linux

Sites like Atomfilms and Ifilm insist on checking which media players you have...

While I can configure, I believe, mimetypes in Konqueror to open, for example, "windows media" files with mplayer, to make it work I'll need some way to "trick" websites into thinking I've already got "Windows Media Player(tm)" installed, so that I can even get to the page with the media in question...

Would it be possible to have a dialog for getting Konqueror to respond a certain way to the check for media players, similar to the "user agent" spoofing capability?

Ok I have analysed these pages but I fear they have changed in the meantime a lot and thus your original bug isn't there anylonger:

* ifilms.com now uses Flash (v. 8?) for video display. You need to switch off Javascript (it's a horribly broken Javascript with undefined variables: "undefined variable _acct") in order to load the embedded flash player (if you have the flash plugin installed of course ;-). However it will just play sound and not show the video. If you leave javascript enabled it shows at the place of the embedded player just a blank space (looks if the javascript prevents loading flash).
With Firefox 1.5 you get exactly the same result as in Konqueror (sama js-error). However it even fails (at least on my system) to play the sound.

* atomfilms.com doesn't ask for Windows media player either. However Konqueror crashes on trying to open a video there...

Thus I close this bug as "invalid" as the original bug is gone and will open separated bugs for the other things.

See as well closed duplicate bug #40013 for the old atomfilms.com problem.
