KMail's version here on Gentoo is 24.08.3. So I'm not sure which version to pick above …

SUMMARY

KMail doesn't show inline images in HTML emails in the message preview, not even for messages created with KMail itself.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Write a HTML email
2. Add an inline image
3. Send it to yourself
4. Click on it in the message list
5. If not done by default, switch to the HTML view

OBSERVED RESULT

The message lacks the image

EXPECTED RESULT

To see the image, obviously :-)

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: Gentoo

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

The image is shown when the message is opened in an extra window – but not in the preview. I'll attach some screen shots.

I can't reproduce here.
It works fine in preview or in extra windows.

(Wierd if in extra windows it works but not in preview)

This is odd. I just noticed it works as expected on my notebook, which has Artix. There, I have KMail 24.12 (what's it with that versions one can choose here?!).

I'll try to upgrade to 24.12 on my Gentoo machine too and check if the issue is gone …

Doesn't happen with 24.12.0. Seems to be fixed meanwhile.
