I think the latest Kdenlive version which works on macOS 10.17.1/11.7.10 is what you have found out: 23.08.3. We continuously updated QT from version 5 to version 6 in the background during this time (QT = the framework which handles all GUI elements). So it could be that Kdenlive version 23.08.4 has so much Qt code transferred that it even doesn’t start on macOS 11.7.10 anymore. The actual Kdenlive version 24.12.0 needs in minimum macOS 12 or higher. On my old MacPro with macOS 13.7.2 Kdenlive 24.12.0 runs. Sorry that I have no good news. I close this Bug. |
Created attachment 176246 [details] kdenlive install error file SUMMARY - Two different Macbook Pros Mid 2014 15" Macbook Pro i7 16gb Nvidia GT 750M running Big Sur Early 2013 15" Macbook Pro i7 16gb Nvidia GT 650M running Catalina I have tried 24.08.3, 23.08.5, 23.08.4, and a Daily Build. None will install - all fail. I even reloaded the OS on the Big Sur laptop. N/G I went back one more version to 23.08.3 - works on both laptops! Tried 23.08.4 again on the Big Sur laptop - FAIL. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Download appropriate .dmg file from kdenlive 2. Try installing OBSERVED RESULT - Fails with errors EXPECTED RESULT - should install like 23.08.3 does SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS macOS: 10.17.7 Catalina 11.7.10 Big Sur ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
