No icon at all or the generic Wayland icon?
Do you use X11 or Wayland?
Which Thunderbird version do you use?

What I see under Tumbleweed with Plasma 6.2.3 Wayland:

Thunderbird 128 opens and shows the correct Thunderbird icon in the icon-only-task manager, then a second Thunderbird entry appears next to it with only a generic Wayland icon and finally the first entry with the Thunderbird icon vanishes.

No icon at all. I set a custom PNG image to be the icon instead. When I tried to look for Tghunderbird in the applications (right click on the panel (quick access) icon -> Properties-> General->click on icon->type "Thunderbird" -> nothing (no icon) is found.
